During the summer of 2018, the number of canceled flights doubled.
Airlines have not taken advantage of summer holidays to restore their health. After months of strikes and social conflicts, the situation of air transport has even deteriorated.
An explosion of disturbances
1.28% of scheduled departures did not occur during the summer period. That’s twice as much as last year at the same time. A calvary experienced by 6 million passengers, against only 3 million in 2017. And the damage is up to the difficulties encountered: with an average compensation of 380 euros per passenger, 2.2 billion euros could be claimed.
The list of the delays of the summer
In 2018, Vueling is last roped. The Spanish airline has a 2.89% cancellation rate and 13.33% flights delayed more than one hour. Hardly more reliable, Eurowings and Polish Airlines follow. Ninth in the standings, Air France does not really stand out from the game while at low cost, EasyJet is barely better than Ryanair. Very few improvements are worth noting.
Only Air Baltic, Air Europa and Transavia manage to reduce their number of canceled flights.
