In this new academic year 2018/2019, hundreds of thousands of students will travel to different European countries to study in the Erasmus program. Flightright, draws the list of countries hosting the most Erasmus and delivers advice for traveling serenely.
More than 100,000 students a year
Universities from Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland and Sweden are the favorite destinations of European students.
Through this program, they can take courses in a European university and receive a scholarship of a monthly amount between 200 and 400 euros. Remember that airline tickets to their host university remain their responsibility; after hosting, this position represents a significant cost in a student’s tight budget. In case of flight cancellation, they will have to pay unexpected costs, without any financial support from their university or the Erasmus program.
Assert your rights in the event of late or canceled flights
Thus, more than ever, Flightright recalls that students, as air passengers, have rights to enforce and therefore, the possibility of seeking compensation in case of cancellation or delay of their flight more than 3 hours . On the other hand, the airline must be responsible for the incident, which must not be in “extraordinary circumstances”, such as weather conditions or air traffic controller strikes.
The amount of compensation varies between 250 € and 600 €, depending on the distance traveled, not the price of the ticket, regardless of the airline (regular or low cost airline), the regulations are the same. The compensation is then paid directly to the passenger, regardless of the buyer of the ticket.
