What are the conditions to receive compensation for a delay at Lufthansa?

In order to qualify for compensation from Lufthansa Airlines in case of long delay, you must take off or land from a European country. In addition, the delay must not have been anticipated more than 7 days before by the company.

The compensable delay times are as follows: more than 2 hours for a distance up to 1500 km; more than 3 hours for flights within the EU over 1500 km and up to 3500 km for non-EU flights; more than 4 hours for flights over 3500 km.

In the cases mentioned above, Lufthansa is obliged to assist its customers according to the type of delay and its duration. In other words, if this duration is significant, the company must ensure the good conditions of waiting for its passengers – housing and catering -. In the case of compensation, if the delay is 5 hours or more, the passenger has the right to cancel his journey and request a full refund of his ticket to Lufthansa. He must make the request within 7 days after the incident.
